Compass Rose 2023
An eightfold pattern from the fountain floor in Cairo. This design incorporates two distinct eight-pointed stars. The interior of the stars features a motif reminiscent of the compass rose used to indicate the cardinal directions in classical cartography.
This motif, along with its containing star, is also commonly found in traditional quiltmaking designs across Europe and North America.
Original Work
- Compass Rose was rendered with handmade watercolour paints on animal-free Fabriano archival paper. The work measures 10" × 10" (25.40 cm × 25.40 cm), is framed, and available for acquisition at $500 .
