Hammam Assammara 2024
This architectural miniature memorialises an ancient bathhouse in Gaza City destroyed by Israeli airstrike in December 2023. The hammam’s interior is shown in both a fully materialised and a dematerialising state, reflecting the interiority of remembering a place that no longer physically exists.
The destruction of heritage architecture constitutes cultural erasure; by keeping knowledge of these structures alive, this work aims to contribute to the preservation of Palestinian history.
