The Bird and the Hourglass 2023
In this novel analysis of the tenfold star sequence from the fountain floor in Cairo, the pattern emerges from the grid with the proportions of the woven band built directly into its structure.
This was an ongoing theme in my analyses of the Bayt Al-Kritliyyah pattern series, and is an underexplored but fascinating technique.
Original Work
- The Bird and the Hourglass was rendered with handmade watercolour paints on animal-free Fabriano archival paper. The work measures 10" × 16" (25.40 cm × 40.64 cm), is framed, and available for acquisition at $900.
